Nutrition Data Engineer

Location: Remote / Salt Lake City, UT · Type: Full-time

Path2Table is looking for a Nutrition Data Engineer to build and maintain the food and ingredient data that powers our app and Ingredient Library. You'll turn messy label, ingredient, and nutrient data into a clean, trustworthy source that people can rely on when they shop and eat.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain pipelines that ingest product, ingredient, and nutrient data from public databases, manufacturers, and label scans

  • Normalize, de-duplicate, and validate ingredient and additive records across sources

  • Map ingredients to categories (sweeteners, preservatives, emulsifiers, color additives, and more) used in the Ingredient Library

  • Work with the product team to define data models behind Path2Table scores

  • Monitor data quality and document sources, assumptions, and methodology

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field

  • Strong SQL and Python skills; experience with ETL/ELT tools

  • Familiarity with food, nutrition, or ingredient data (e.g., USDA FoodData Central, Open Food Facts) is a big plus

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and transparency

Backend Developer

Location: Remote / Salt Lake City, UT · Type: Full-time

We're hiring a Backend Developer to design and build the services behind the Path2Table app, from product lookups and scoring to user accounts and integrations. You'll help us ship a fast, reliable platform that puts honest food information in people's hands.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and maintain APIs that serve product, ingredient, and scoring data to our apps

  • Implement product search and barcode lookup features

  • Build secure user account, authentication, and preference features

  • Work closely with the Nutrition Data Engineer on data models and performance

  • Write tests, monitor services, and help keep the platform reliable and secure

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of backend development experience with [language/framework, e.g., Node.js, Python, Go]

  • Experience with relational databases, REST or GraphQL APIs, and cloud hosting

  • Comfort working in a small team where you'll own features end to end

  • Interest in food, health, or consumer transparency is a plus
